Feedstock for urea and ammonia; fuel for gas-based power; primary input for city gas distribution.
Who consumes this
Why it matters
Gas feeds three strategically critical sectors: urea production (domestic food security), gas-based power (grid stability), and city gas distribution (urban cooking and CNG). Unlike liquid fuels, gas is allocated administratively – so price alone does not clear the market. APM gas from ONGC goes preferentially to fertiliser; imported LNG is what everyone else competes for.
