LNG $/MMBtu: editorial rate.

Spot and term import price; determines marginal cost for gas-based power, city gas, and fertiliser plants without pipeline gas.

Who consumes this

Why it matters

LNG sets the marginal cost of gas for industries not connected to the domestic pipeline grid. India imports roughly 25-30 mmtpa through terminals at Dahej, Hazira, and Dabhol. The JKM spot price drives landed cost directly. When JKM exceeds $15/MMBtu, gas-based power plants go unscheduled, fertiliser plants run lean, and city gas distribution margins compress. Post-Russia shock, LNG spot has been the swing variable in Indian industrial energy cost.
